This was a 17 yr old with poor prognosis LL6. The patient was due for orthognathic surgery, so the plan included extraction of the LL6 and mesial movement of the LL7 to enable the LL8 to be preserved at surgery. A 1.5mm mini-implant was inserted mesial to LR5, and a sectional fixed appliance was used. This demonstrates simple yet effective mesial movement of the LL7. The side-effect of initial mesial tipping of the LL7 would now be avoided by the addition of a powerarm or soldered hook for molar protraction.
